FAQ's

Some essential oils are more commonly used around infants than others, but even ambient use warrants caution, proper ventilation, and pediatrician input, since babies' respiratory and neurological systems are still developing and can react differently than adults' to the same concentration of aromatic compounds.

Congestion accompanied by fever in a baby under 3 months, difficulty breathing, wheezing, bluish lips, or refusal to feed warrants an immediate call to a pediatrician, since these can indicate something beyond a common cold.

Pediatricians commonly recommend saline drops, a cool-mist humidifier, and gentle nasal suction as first-line, well-established approaches for infant congestion, since these don't involve any aromatic or essential oil exposure. Elevating the head of the crib mattress slightly (never with a pillow) is another commonly suggested approach.

Vapor products containing menthol, camphor, or eucalyptus oil are generally not recommended for children under 2 without a pediatrician's guidance, since young airways can react to these aromatic compounds with increased congestion or breathing difficulty in some cases. A patch-style product that doesn't touch the skin reduces some risk compared to a direct topical rub, but checking with a pediatrician before use on an infant is still the safer first step.

A vapor patch releases scent gradually into the air from clothing or nearby fabric rather than being applied directly to a baby's skin or chest, which avoids skin irritation and the risk of a baby touching their face after application. It doesn't eliminate all safety considerations around the essential oils themselves, but it does remove the direct-contact exposure route.
